I've worked with two or three people helping them get on SSI or Social Security Disability and the main thing is documentation. Explain when you started getting that way, get doctor records from all your doctors who have treated you, what medicines you have been on. Have you been hospitalized for bi-polar disease?
It's very important to be going to a psychyriatic doctor and get into therapy if you arent. That builds up a history. They will turn you down every time in a lot of cases. But you gotta go as far as you can and it usually winds up in the administrative law judge to decide. Good luck. email me if you need some advice.

This definitely depends on the severity of the manic depression, aka Bipolar disorder.
I am manic depressive, and I do not qualify for SSI. On the other hand, I had family to take care of me for a few years while I started to recover, and I never was completely unable to work.
I do know that one prerequisite is that you are unable to hold a job.

manic depressive aka bipolar disorder. I believe if you can get a doctor to prove it disrupts your everyday life or is incapacitating in some way then yes.

Also called Bipolar disorder, it can be debilitating. You would have to prove to a doctor that this has made you disabled and you are unable to function or care for yourself. They would have to fill out lots of paperwork on ur behalf. It won't be easy.

If it is so severe that you cannot hold down a normal job then yes. But they will send you to one of their shrinks to prove this fact. TAKE all the medicall documentation you have when you go

yeah one of my two best friends is on SSDI for bipolar......
she was in therapy and on meds for years....while she worked as a school teacher... but there came a time when she just couldn't work anymore... and her therapist agreed with her and stated that......... so she had good documentation.... documentation is everything when applying for SSI or SSDI....

It can if it is severe enough to disable you. Your psychiatrist can tell you what is involved in assessing you for this.
There is a waiting period and a high likelihood you will have a fight to get certified.
