Being a US citizen is only a right to those that are born here and a privilege to the rest as it is in most countries.
Yes, there is a very good reason to limiting the number of immigrants who enter the country annually. In order for a country or a society to remain in existence in needs to be a cohesive one and in order to have a cohesive society its people have to share a common culture language, and value system that cannot be taught overnight, immigrants need to assimilate and it's impossible to assimilate immigrants if we have unfettered immigration, it need to be regulated and kept at a pace where assimilation is still possible and effective.
The difference with the current movement on illegal immigration and the civil rights movement is quite obvious, illegal immigrants aren't citizens of this country, Black Americans have always be a part of our history and are as American as anyone else who was born in this country.
Enforcing immigration policy is a form of discrimination but that doesn't make it a bad thing, if it was non discriminatory we would allow anyone into this country.

Those who are born here are automatically citizens. Neither a privilege nor a right. It is a privilege to the legal immigrants who have gone through the process to earn their citizenship.
There is a reason for limiting the number of immigrants. It is done so as not to place an unnecessary burden on the resources....natural, economic, etc.
It is not right to break that law. You break it and you are a criminal.
It is not a civil-rights movement. The illegal immigrants are not citizens nor legally here and hence have no rights.
Enforcing a immigration policy is not discrimination unless it is directed at a certain religion or race or political ideas.
We are already doing everything to help other countries at our expense. Jobs are being outsourced, production is being shifted overseas, countries are being helped politically and economically

It is a privilege to become a USA citizen that is earned by either being born here, or going through the necessary legal process.
The reason for limiting the number of immigrants that come into the country is to make sure that they don't cause a great negative impact on our country economically. It is not right to break the law if you don't agree with it, unless you are defending your homeland from invaders, then I believe it is every Americans duty to protect our land by any means necessary. Enforcing immigration policy is not a form of discrimination, it is showing them that Americans believe in following the law. If they cannot come here lawfully, how are we to expect them to respect all the other laws?
We should not have to help other countries prosper, they can do that themselves, but like mexico for example, instead of trying to fix their problems, they promote( the government) coming here illegally or legally, instead of trying to see what the real problem is and fixing it.

Being born here is a right to being a citizen until you break the law. Becoming a citizen is a priviledge for going through the naturalization process. I believe we should screen all foreigners more thoroughly. We should have done this prior to 9/11. A lot of them come here because they have broken the law in their own country. Immigration has nothing to do with civil rights. We give civil rights to foreigners and sometimes, deny them to our own citizens. We should only let them in if our unemployment rate is low. If we let too many in at once, they'll grab all the good jobs and work for peanuts, and we'll all be on foodstamps.

I'll only answer the question regarding the Civil Rights Movement of African Americans.
I don't think the issues is being confused, I think that some people are trying to make the two issues the same, only to profit their own cause.
Comparing the struggle of African Americans to illegal immigrants is ridiculous.

first of all when my ancestors came through ellis island, they were welcomed off the boats and they kissed the ground.
They werent criminals who took advantage of the government programs and bringing drugs into this country and not climbing over a fence to have babies and suck us dry.
Africans were brought HERE against their will, thats part of the reason they have rights, to be equal.
WE should be deporting every illegal. they need to learn to stand up for themselves and demand better care in their country. Think about it this way. IF you were president of a piss *** country and you had millions and millions of people going to another land ( I call them mexicos slaves ) these people send over 1 billion dollars a year back to mexico, right there their government says well hell we dont have to do anything to fix it, our slaves are paying for everything, well send more and give them pamplets on how to scam the American government
If they want to come here legally FINE, my ancestors fled a war torn country and were welcomed here, they assmiliated and learned the language and were respectful to the laws and others.
Just think of it this way. ONE day when your kid is trying to get into college and you've worked really hard and saved, the college of his choice says sorry but even though you can pay for it, we have to let these kids of these illegals in and they get in for free happens, what will you think about that?
If the illegals that are here now are so happy to be here than why do they not waive our flag above mexicos flag ? cause they dont care, they just want their way
NO ENTRY UNLESS YOU"RE LEGAL

NO, it is NOT a RIGHT.... it is a FANTASTIC PRIVILEGE to become a citizen of the USA.
No one can be an illegal immigrant, they are ILLEGAL ALIENS... CRIMINALS.... nothing else...
Enforcing the law is not discrimination... not at all... laws allow our society to function in a manner that tries to be beneficial to all LEGAL CITIZENS. The USA is a Nation of Laws.... not a leftist nation of feel good BS....
A very strictly applied 5 year prison sentence with no parole and a $250,000 fine for those who employ ILLEGAL ALIENS would do wonders to help improve other countries... It would help force ILLEGAL ALIENS to return home and fight for freedoms and rights for their people, instead of STEALING from the people of the USA...
No, it is not acceptable to break a law just because you don't agree with it.... if you don't agree with a law, lobby to change it.... it is a CRIME to break the law....
There are plenty of reasons to limit the # of people who can immigrate LEGALLY into the USA....
AND, there are plenty of reasons to COMPLETELY STOP ILLEGAL ALIENS from entering the USA.... disease, crime, drugs, murder, rape, stealing from our resources, stealing from our infrastructure, stealing jobs, lowering our standard of living, trashing our country, and because they are breaking the law... because ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS are CRIMINALS...

There is no "right" to enter our country. Those people who do so, are criminals. We should treat them as criminals.
We have enacted NAFTA, to keep the Mexicans out. It cost us lots of jobs and the Mexicans keep pouring in.
The problem lies within America. Our employers must only hire Americans and legal residents. No more hiring of illegals!
Make the fines high, and the enforcement brutall.

People in other countries do not have a right to come here unless the do it legally, every nation has a right to say who comes into their country and every country dose. That is not discrimination if that is discrimination then every country is guilty. it is a privilage to be a citizen not a right.
