That's "Toad in the Hole."

Toad in the Hole is a traditional English recipe, originating from
Yorkshire, a county in the north of England. See more about its origins and variations here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toad_in_the_hole

Basic recipe:

1lb of good pork sausages
1 egg
4oz self raising flour
Pinch of salt
Pinch of finely powdered sage
Half pint of milk
Some sausage drippings

Sift flour, salt and sage together, break in the egg, and gradually stir in the milk. When the batter is smooth and creamy, stand aside for at least an hour. Prick the sausages all over and grill them lightly to give them a pleasant savory taste and ensure that they will be well cooked in the batter. Put about 4 tablespoonfuls of dripping into a Yorkshire pudding dish or small baking tin, and heat it until it splutters. At once stir in 1 tablespoonful of the hot fat into the batter. Quickly arrange the sausages in the tin with the rest of the fat, and pour in the batter. This must all be done very quickly, because the batter must get into the fat while it is hot enough to crimp it round the edge of the tin as soon as it is poured in. Put the tin back into the hot oven near the top and bake for 30-35 minutes at Reglo 7 or 450 degrees F. Race the dish to the table immediately it is taken from the oven, while it is puffy and crisp; cut out each sausage in a frame of batter.

Serve with gravy and a cooked vegetable, and you've got a complete meal. Enjoy!

Toad in the Hole
This is a popular dish in Northern England.

Serves 4.

- 1 pound sausages, un-smoked
- 1 1/2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- Beef gravy

Pre-heat the oven to 425. Make a batter of the flour, salt, egg, milk
and water. Allow to sit 30 minutes. Add the oil and sausages to a
heavy oven-ready skillet. Brown in the oven, turning frequently. Pour
the batter into the hot pan and return to the oven. Bake for 40
minutes (or until well browned). Remove with a spatula and serve
topped with warm gravy.

Ingredients
2 Tbs (30 ml) butter or margarine
1 lb (450 g) small link pork sausages
1 cup (250 ml) all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 cup (250 ml) milk

Directions
Place the butter and sausages in a 12-inch (30 cm) roasting pan
or cast-iron skillet and bake in a preheated 400F (200C) oven
for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, sift the flour into a bowl and beat
in the egg. Add half the milk slowly, beating until the batter
is smooth, then add the remaining half of the milk and beat
until very smooth. Pour the batter into the pan with the
sausages and bake 20 minutes. Reduce the oven to 350F (180C) and
bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until the batter rises up
the sides of the pan and turns golden brown.
Makes 4-6 servings

I thought Toad in the Hole was a slice of bread buttered with a hole cut out of the center and an egg broke into the hole then baked in the oven, a breakfast item.

not sure but you can use boone's farm strawberry hill instead of marsala wine when making the sauce for chicken marsala....it tasted good when boiled with the boullion, gave the breaded mix a sweet taste
