Please help me! My son wrote on the walls in our small apartment. We don't own the place. I'm not sure if I should buy paint and just paint over it or if there is actually something that can just wipe the pen ink and pencil mark off. Soap and water does not work! I've tried it. I even tried erasing the pencil marks with an eraser and that doesn't work. I even tried cleaning it with clorine and that didn't work. What will work?! Please help!

Well, I was going to suggest the magic eraser but it seems that has been amply covered. In the event that that doesnt work however, I would simply go ahead and repaint. There is a paint by Glidden that is extremely washable (put it on my daughters nursery walls) in case your budding Picasso decides to move up to . . . I dunno . . . crayons, lipstick, water colors . . . I'd go ahead and tell your landlord what happened. Tell them you are repainting the walls as result. He/she should understand and will appreciate your honesty. (You never know. He/ she may even have some left over paint from the last time the apartments were painted that perhaps they'll offer you. ) Choose the same color(s) as they already have on the walls unless you get permission to use something else. BTW, Wal-mart sells a cheap paint kit that has everything you'd need (except the paint, of course). Lastly, get that boy LOTS OF LOTS OF LOTS OF BIG PAPER and coloring books. : )

Murphy's Oil Soap works really well. I found that if you scrub to hard with Magic Eraser it will also bring the paint off the walls.

After using the eraser, you might have to touch up the area because the eraser will remove the paint as well.
