Schizophrenia is a specific word for a specific type of crazy. Let me find a reference for you.

It has to do with an inability to tell between what is real and what is going on inside the mind in the subconscious.

It is because of this inability to tell subconscious from real phenomena that schizophrenic people get:

voices in their head (auditory hallucinations)
the feeling that thoughts are being put into their head (thought insertion)
the feeling that thoughts are taken out of their head or being read by others (thought broadcasting)

They get this feeling that all these people are talking about them because they can hear them, or they think they know the thoughts of these people. Their own self can be drowned in what they see to be a hubbub of noise, even when they are alone and in a quiet room.

Imagine if you were in a crowded place - on a packed bus or train - and you could hear everybody talking about you - looking at you - and not in a rockstar way, they are thinking about you and your own insecurities, your deficiencies which you know better than anyone ... because they can read your mind

(because it really is your mind that's doing it)

No wonder they go crazy.

They are better with medications. The medications suppress the voices and the intrusive thoughts somewhat.

crazy is not a useful term in any way.
schizophrenia is a serious illness but it has specific symptoms.
someone who has it might be controlled with medication and act normally. so crazy is not a good word to use.
you can google schizophrenia and learn its symptoms and treatment.

I do not think so. Its a brain disease/disorder which is caused by chemical imbalances and thankfully is treated successfully now with medications. People need to learn about these disorders because there are so many people suffering when they can be helped with the right information. My son is schizophrenic and I would never call him crazy.

No. Looney is another word for crazy. Schizophrenics have a particular disorder that can be treated with medicine. Look up the word, the name tells you what the disorder is.
