when do they usually call you back to tell you that they want or don't want you after you audition? or... do they even call you at all if they don't want you?

You should hear in 2-3 days. They won't call you if they aren't interested. After 5 working days you can write it off completely if you don't hear. Don't spend time "wondering what you did wrong." Don't think they'll be nice and give you feedback about how you can do better next time.
It's a tough business. It's best to forget an audition as soon as you leave it and conentrate on getting another one.
The best way to get feedback is to start taking an acting class and let them refine your talent

They won't call you at all if they don't want you. Depending on the nature of the audition, you will usually be called within a week or two.

Most places will only call you back, if they want you. Some of the more classy places will call you back, even if you don't get the job.
One thing I would suggest is, if you really want the job, to call them yourself. Let them know that you really want the job. Sometimes a simple phone call can make the difference between getting the job or not. Especially if they are having trouble deciding who to hire.
