If we want to continue fighting each other, like little kids on the playground, shouting,"My dad can beat up your dad," then we'll continue to say my God is the only God. That is so stupid!!!
Yes, the Hindu religion is very tolerant, as is Buddhism, as is paganism. You can believe in all gods or no gods, but let's not assume the one your parents worship is the only one. That's just ignorant.

I'm a Hindu and while I'd love to say that Hinduism is the only religion that is so tolerant, the truth is that Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism (the Dharmic religions) as well as Taoism are also just as tolerant. So, too, is Judaism (I have Jewish friends and they basically have made it clear that they believe that their God is the same God as everyone else's, but that they just have a special relationship with Him that they have to honor). The various Pagan traditions (Kemeticism, Hellenism, Wicca, Religio Romana, Asatru, etc, etc) are also very tolerant. And the various New Age paths and traditions are also very tolerant.
That I know of there are only four religions in the world that are exclusivists (based upon my own study of their sacred texts, theological writings, and conversations with devotees of the religion)
Christianity, Islam, Ayyavazhi, Shinto
Still you raised a good point. Thanks for the question.
Peace be with you.

I don't know why so many people find it so offensive that religions think that they are right and other religions are wrong. Why on earth would you believe in a religion if you thought it was wrong? People generally believe in religions because they think those religions are right. People generally do not believe things that they think are incorrect. If you believe your religion is right it is going to follow that not all other religions can be right. Some will be wrong. Jesus either rose from the dead or He didn't. Reincarnation happens or it doesn't.
Religious tolerance isn't pretending that all religions are equally true or correct. Someone can be perfectly tolerant of another religion while at the same time thinking that that other religion is incorrect on many major points. Tolerance is letting people practice their religion in peace - it's live and let live.
People who think their religion is the only right one are not the issue. The issue is people who think their religion is the only right one *and* use violence to promote this view. I don't give a flip if people of other religions think I'm going to hell - that's their perogative to think that. What bothers me are the ones who want to make my trip there much faster.

If you are looking for truth then YOU MUST LEARN TO UNLEARN.
Since you are preoccupied with the belief that only Hindus are the most tolerant, you must be told to do some research.
Not long ago the world has seen the degree of tolerance of Hindus in Gujrat.
A little time back we have seen your tolerance in Ayodhya.
Some time back we have seen your tolerance towards Sikhs in 1984.
A little long time back you have shown your tolerance in Meerut, Maliyana, Nelly etc. etc..
A little More time back Buddhism was driven out of its birth place i.e. India. by the Hindus.
And long time ago the Aryan invaders destroyed the Dravidian civilisation and pushed them to south India.
This not my belief but duly documented in History books and The Vedas.
HOWEVER...
I dont think it is only the Hindus who are intolerant towards others.
It is not the religion but the followers who are resposible for all the misery to the world.
As far as Islam is concerned it respects all the prophets and the religions that have occurred earlier. The holy Quran says "no coersion in the religion" and "to you yours, to them thiers" At present the muslims are the worst people like others who do not follow the teachings of holy Quran.

Religious tolerance is a desirable quality, but to believe that all religions are right is just not possible. Afterall, they all say that they have authority, the answers, etc. Truth is truth. Someone's right, or no one is right. But EVERYONE can't be right. It's either prophets live today or they don't. Either Catholicism is God's true church still on the earth since Peter, or it isn't.
I respect tolerance though. We, (lds members, i.e. Mormons) believe in letting others worship how they may.

To restrain and discipline the behaviour of human beings some intelligent person invented God - " A flawless Thought or Entity. " That intelligent person must have known that human beings can't be made follow anyone who can be seen or is easily approachable and has all those weaknesses that they themselves have. To make the people God Fearing he must have attributed miracles to God.That intelligent person must have succeeded in regulating the behaviour of muman beings of his age but now God is a matter of cotroversy. I think God is only one and lives in the hearts of people , His presence can be felt when you do something good for others.

I cannot tolerate Hindus. What is their faith...worshipping many Gods and Goddesses out of their fear and ignorance. I believe in One god and the only Savior Jesus Christ.

Christianity is the only one that preaches & teaches salvation by grace through faith. All others are works-based and therefore make no sense...none of us could ever work our way into heaven. The work had to be done for us on the cross at Calvary.
Besides...the finished canon of scripture does not contradict itself...therefore rendering it the most reliable source we have of God (other than the Holy Spirit who indwells us)
