Our cat is very wierd, why because when I met my man it was just him and the cat and then the kid every other week. It took this cat over a year to get use to me, and he runs from the kids because they and the dog that he was around tormented him not abusively though, they just wanted to play and didin't realize that they were doing more harm than good. So when I came in to the picture I stopped all that, we have also just bought a new house and I put him on medication so that the move wouldn't be so stressful for him and that seemed to work. Also since we moved he seems to come out more and socialize and we have been in our house now for about 2 months. The problem is that in the last 2 weeks he has been pooping on the carpet and now today it was both the carpet and the floor in the same day, we have already tried to accomadate him and his litter is always clean. SO I'M AT MY WITS END NOW AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TODAY!!! HELP HELP HELP because we are going out bird hunting on SAT.

My cat is an older cat and does the same thing. Fortunately I feed him hard food and he just goes in hard chunks. I think it might be that he is stressed out and scared. I have found many other people that have had cats that went through a very traumatic time and from then on their bathroom habits changed and they started pooping everywhere but in their box.

My cat urinates in the litter box but prefers to poop anywhere but there. I just got used to it and close the door where there is carpet when I leave (he seems to prefer carpet and throw rugs). He is a GREAT cat aside from the daily "drop" if you will.

I've tried picking him up when he's about to go, he gives tell-tale signs, and putting him in the box but he just runs out and goes to the nearest corner and does it. I tried water etc but to no avail.

Maybe your cat is just going to take getting used to it's new surroundings and when it settles down it will go back to what's natural, if not, dry food is the way to go. It makes clean up a lot easier.

Good luck.

wow dat is weird.. try spending more time with her (she may be loanly and be asking 4 attention) and also show her where the litter box is.. if u see her doing anything throw her in the litter box or use a water gun to stop her from pooing on the carpet.. good luck!!!
