I just found out that most major cat and dog food makers (especially Iams) do really horrible experiments on cats and dogs in labs to develop their products. This encompasses every brand of food I've ever fed my cats. I want to feed my cats healthy food, but I don't want to give any more money to companies that torture animals. Does anybody know of healthy cat food that doesn't test on animals?

Yeah, shocking isn't it? Read "Foods Pets Die For" for more gruesome details. It's disgusting!!
Good for you doing the research and trying to do the right thing.
Look into Innova (www.naturapet.com), California Natural(www.naturapet.com), Artemis (www.artemis.com), Wellness (wwwoldmotherhubbard.com), and Felidae (sorry don't know this one). All are fantastic foods. No cruelty, nothing artificial and all human grade ingredients.
Cheers.

here is a really helpful list. PETA the largest animal rights group in the world put it out, its only healthy cruelty free animal foods that could make it on this list, i feed my own animals only products PETA approves first, its much better for the animals that way :]

No. I used to buy Iams (hairball control) for my kitty last year (3 months trial)... I used whiskas dry food since he was born on may 6, 2003, he keep throwing up so i decided to try iams to see if it improves his condition at all... But it did not help at all and i had to switch back to his original Whiskas food. Two months later, I found out about animal cruelty from iams and veto to myself that I will never buy my cat Iams ever again. Still on Whiskas, he still throwing up. Last month I decided to try something new for my cat and decided to try Nutra Max and i tried 50/50 of Nutra max and Whiskas mixed for about three months so my cat won't get a upset stomach and it was fanstatic and he is no longer throwing up and he's perfect healthy and the Vet noticed a big difference and gained more weight and he's about 40 inches from the head to tail. A few more months then I will settle on Nutra Max forever and get rid of Whiskas dry food but will feed him the wet pouch food once in a while as a treat.

We hear you and feel the same way...had bought Iams for years until we read about this. Check out iamscruelty.com for information, and this link will take you to "foods NOT tested on animals":

http://www.iamscruelty.com/notTested.asp

We printed that list, and carry it in the car for when we are out buying pet food (and want to buy a non-testing brand). Our kitties really love Dick van Patten's Natural Balance. Not only do they have no animal testing, they have all the nutrients your kitties need, and all proceeds go to animal charities. Can't go wrong!

Good for you for taking a stand!

You can search the internet for recipes for quality home-made cat and dog food. That's the only way to take the middleman out of it. Take control of finding out how to make your own cat food, and feed your baby with peace of mind.

Look into Chicken Soup and Wellness. Very good foods, small companies with no animal testing (that I know of).

No, there are none. Your cat will now have to starve. Man, that's cruel! Is your cat a vegetarian? I hope so, that way no animals suffer.....Not poor little fishes. Not poor little birdies. What's left. Does your cat like granola bars?

Glad I could help........Now go hug a tree, or something. Thank you......and good night!

You need to check your sources for this information. I doubt you'll find there is any validity to the stories.
