Can guys really be FRIENDS with a woman? I love hanging out with guys, working with guys and talking to guys. (and a little harmless flirting every now and then). But I once had a guy tell me he couldn't hang out with me because he thought about "other things." I can be a really good friend. So, do guys really want female friends. Do they prefer to date women who are also their friends or do they prefer some types of women to date and other types of women as friends?

BOTH. Every man's dream is to fall in love with a female friend's personality. This is the scariest for the female, but if she is mature enough to comprehend how important this is to many of us guys, more women in USA will live happier marriages.
its up to her if she feels the same. this is where two people have to discuss their feelings.

Yes guys can be friends with a woman without any problems. I have a number of female friends and there are no other things. As you said, there is some flirting, but it's all in fun. There is never any consideration of a relationship. In my opinion, friends happen when someone you would otherwise have dated just isn't available for dating or the timing is just wrong. You start hanging out as friends, and then, even if the obstruction passes away, you are too used to being friends to change it to something else.

I would say yes, but there are some difficulties. Males view women through different eyes than women view men. Males can have female friends, without benefits, but other females, i.e. girlfriends are always suspicious and others just don't believe it happens. All these different views just make the 'friends only' male/female relationship more difficult. If the truth were known, I think most males would enjoy have a female friend to talk to. But society makes these types of relationships rare and sometimes the people involved do too by sliding into the 'with benefits' area.
I would have to guess that most men do not begin dating women for their friendship, that friendship develops as the two grow to know each other, or not, if they discover they really don't like one another.

Some of my really good friends in the past have been women. I like the fact that they have different point of views and that when you have a problem they give you honest, caring and serious answers that you sometimes just don't get from your guy Friends. I think that dating a woman that is your friend makes the whole dating experience that much more comfortable and enjoyable.

The MAJORITY of men can't have females as true friends, obviously there are exceptions. I have many true female friends, but I've always had female friends since high school, so I'm used to it. But it's hard cause guys like women and it's hard not to recognize an attractive woman and not at least think about her in other ways.....

yes and no guys can be friends with girls if there is no attraction between them but if there is sex will never be to far from a guys mind. i herd somone one say "men are only friends with a woman untill they have sex and sex is allways all there minds" i have found that true but if there is no attraction it is possible. as for the question of "Do they prefer to date women who are also their friends or do they prefer some types of women to date and other types of women as friends?" most guy want to date women that they can be friends with but there are those guy that keep their women and there friends seprate they are usaly insicure about some thing.

I have a ton of female friends and I also have a girlfriend. There is nothing wrong for a girl to have guy friends just like it's not wrong for a guy to have girl's as friends. Actually it's kind of nice because as a guy, I find myself bounching relationship issues off them to see what they think from the womens point of view.

I think its possible to an extent. Drawing from past experiences, I have liked the girl the past, but she may of had a boyfriend, so eventually we become friends. I think that most guys try to befriend girls in an attempt to possibly date them etc. Speaking for myself, I feel that having a girl as a friend can be a great thing, helpful during relationship problems, and gives you a different perspective on most issues and situations.

If the guy is straight and you are an attractive female...there will always be "other things" on his mind -- that's simply the way that guys are wired. Having said that -- friendships can lead to relationships and the best type of relationship one might argue is when both parties are each other's best friends.

Having a girl as a friend is like having $19.99 in the ATM when you can only take $20 out. Sorry to say this but guys are pretty much after only 1 thing and i think you know what that is. Unless they are gay.
