We have a 7 year old dog, who by the way is fixed, and he only humps the other boy dog and NOT our female. Is there anyway to break this habit and what causes this? Is it for dominence? Our other dog is two and also fixed.

My female is also spayed and they all play together so they don't hate one another. He is NOT gay.

Yes, this s a dominance behavior and NOT a sexual one. There could be a couple of reasons he is mounting the male and not the female.
Mounting is a behavior that shows dominance over another dog. He may feel that he already is the top dog but is fearful that the male is likely to take his position. So he mounts him regularly to maintain his rank. He may not see the female as a threat, so leaves her alone.
Or, the female may be the top dog, but your dominant male doesn't want to be at the bottom of the totem pole. He wouldn't dare challenge the female's position, but feels quite confident taking on the other male.
This hierarchy can be completely thrown off if just one dog is added to or removed from the situation.
As far as getting it to stop, you could pull him off the dog, squirt him with water, or just give him a verbal correction (ehh-ehh!). Experiment and see what works. I could be any combination of these corrections, too.

Your right, it is a dominence thing. Female dogs also hump for dominence. It has nothing to do with gender or a female in heat. If your dog has had this for quite some time you might not be able to break it, don't worry I know its gross and sometimes disturbing to see just tell him no. and if they other dog who is being humped doesnt want to be Im sure that he/she will growl or snap at the other dog. This is also normal so don't fret.

It is to assert his dominance. My female dog humps every dog she comes across. It's not a sexual act, but to show the other dog that he is of a higher rank. The female may be more dominant than the 7 year old and not allow that type of behavior.

ok, this habit is extra desirable than probable dominance, expecially if the different dogs is youthful. Breaking won't be incredibly ordinary, yet a small misting bottle with purely undeniable ol' water in it works wonders for different undesirable conduct on some dogs. purely mist in his ordinary direction once you spot him doing the humping.

We had a small dog, fixed, who humped our cat. The other dogs would not allow it, even our other cat hissed. So I belive it may be a question of dominance.
