To teach a kid that one religion is more true than any other is a form of child abuse. You have no business teaching any children about religion. They are too young to know what they want to believe.
"To succeed the theologian invades the cradle. In the minds of innocents they plant the seeds of superstition. Save children from the pollution of this horror." [Robert Ingersoll]
"That is a protestant baby. This is a Hindu baby. That is a Muslim baby. This baby thinks there are many gods. That baby is adamant that there is only one. But it is preposterous that we do this to children. They are too young to know what they think. To slap a label on a child at birth - to announce, in advance, as a matter of hereditary presumption if not determinate certainty, an infant's opinions on the cosmos and creation, on life and afterlives, on sexual ethics, abortion and euthanasia - is a form of mental child abuse." [Richard Dawkins]

It's hard to explain to children at that age things of that nature - you have to attack it from a childlike point of view. Get religious children books and began teaching them and songs even movies will help a lot.

if I wanted to explain prayer to a kindergardener I'd simply explain it as talking to god.
then of course you get the big "who is god?" question.... and thats the tough one!
my own, and my siblings's religious education at that level was about holidays and history and stories, not actually about beleifs or god in a direct sense, and IMO it'd be too early to really talk about that stuff, because they can't properly undertstand it, (or the part they understand, you don't have to explain, or is self-explaining once you give something like "talking to god".

You explain to them that is all a fairy tale invented by adults. The primary purpose of which is to teach them how to be good servants & slaves for their masters.
That should do it.

to a person of that age, it will be extreemly difficult. however just try to simplify it.
what is religion?
it is a partnership between you and your God.
better yet it should be a friendship, (none fo this hellfire and brimstone crap )
and to adults Jesus is their best friend, and they go to church to be with Jesus because Jesus is the Holy ghost and he is very busy, but he comes to church every sunday to be with his firends. and if you want to get to know jesus and make friends with him then you need to go to church...
now could you please tell my why the Pagan Minister (me) is telling you how to get kids to go to your church, bucause i really do not know myself. i guess it is that help your fellow man thing or something like that,
anyway good luck
(if all else faile just bribe them with chocholate)

Explain to them that, because of Vatican II, they are lucky that they don't have to worship fairy tales in Latin.
