Red -- use a gentle shampoo with a little bit of henna in it, but not a straight henna treatment. The nicest one I've tried is by Klorane from Paris.

Blonde -- use chamomile shampoo.

Depending on what color your hair is to begin with, If it is dark brown to light brown you can put lemon juice...straight in your hair and do some outside activities. It's not going to happen in one day though.

You can go to a professional and get some nice natural looking red highlights. Just be careful and make sure you and the stylist are on the same page as far as how much you want. That doesn't mean your hair is going to wind up really damaged. Sometimes depending on the quality of the product the stylist uses, your hair actually comes out looking better than before you went in. Look on line or in the phone book for salons that use top of the line products...just a few are..Matrix,Redkin,Swartskophff (msp) that one is hard to spell unless you use it. And of course Aveda being way up there.

Actually if you don't born with red hair it is not natural. But you can use some herbals to help to get red highlights. And also it is not harm to your hair as chemicals. Do you know red hena? You can apply red hena paste (Mix with boiling water and keep to set for 4 hours) and wait 2 hours and wash. You can see your hair is nicely reddish with hena.

The only way to lighten your hair is to damage it - whether with peroxide, or lemon juice or sunlight - they all work by breaking down stuff in your hair, and seriously drying it out, making it brittle.
lemon juice and sunlight are natural, but that doesn't mean it's going to be better for your hair.
