If your 4 yr old is not already in the play school, make an appointment to go in and let him check it out, meet teachers and other children. If he is already in, if your able, go in for a half day, gradually leave earlier and earlier. There are tons of books on going to school. My 4 yr old daughter did the same,I was able to volunteer to be the class helper.I hope you have some luck, it's difficult, but he'll be o-k!!!!YOU TOO!!!!

Don't make a major issue out of it. Tell him you understand his feelings but you are the parent and that you think this is best for him. Take him in. Hand him over to the teacher and walk out the door. Don't make it all a big scene as you're leaving. One thing that might work is finding a photo of you on your very first day of school and have him take it with him to look at during the day. I did that with my daughter and she felt better being able to look at it and think that her mother went through the same thing.

Well I have 3 children we had some separation issues also my suggestion to you is if he has a special blanket or teddy bear let him take it with him or if that doesn't work attach a picture of yourself to him and see if that works. I'll get back if I think of anything else.Bye now.

the trick is consistency. maybe you're not trying hard enough. keep taking him back there. if this is a more serious problem, watch supernanny or nanny 911.

You're just going to have to drop him off one day. It's tough, but eventually he'll start enjoying himself.

go with him and let him see you there, most schools will let you do this, once he sees that it is fun,, you will be all set,, it is scary the first time for the little ones

Tell him you love him, then turn around and walk out.He has to get use to it on his own.If you stay every time he wants you to,he'll never get use to it.
