Christianity is Liberating.. now it's interpretation may not be. Remember allot of those guide lines are from a much earlier time and reflect the socially acceptable mores.
Liberating: The Bible is very clear on Women's Roles in all walks of life. When studied women did much of what we do today, the responsibilities are stronger for a Christian Woman than a secular one.
I am not referring to what different denominations say woman can do it their Church's, but what great women of the Bible did. So WE CAN DO TODAY!

Do you really want to know or are you just fishing for entertainment.
Well -- no matter your motive, I'll take a swing at it.
I believe that Christianity is liberating, period. And in an historical context there certainly have been powerful women in the old and new testaments who were "godly", if you'll accept that term.
If anyone is suppressed in any society, much of that is submitting to the mores of the time and accepting a role.
It's kind of like knowing why the caged bird sings -- given personal discipline, there is more freedom in discipline than in unfettered freedom.

I believe that a loving God would love all of us equally.
However, if you interpret the Bible literally, you will see some supression against women (e.g. women are to remain silient in the church, which is indicated somewhere in 1st Corinthians). This could be blamed on the "horrible, sexist men of the church." And really, if they really believe some of these things, they ARE sexist and horrible. But remember, a lot of women go along with it. I have heard women argue quite forcefully that women should not be allowed to be pastors, among other things.

Honestly, liberating.
But some use it to suppress. Before Paul told the Corinthian church women should be quiet, he told them that women should cover their head when they pray or prophesy. We have to understand both in their context.

liberating. it sets the captivated sinner free, be it man or woman. a slave to sin is a slave to sin, male or female. i was tormented and in bondage to my addictions for years. meth, coke, pot, morphine, alcohol, relationships with men and women without being married and now i am free from all that by accepting what Jesus did for me and turning away from that with the help of a higher power and constant prayer. and i can honestly say i am happy and my life is simple and peaceful. and guess what. i am a woman.

neither. I do believe that no matter what religion we are into, its still our personal choice whether we do this or that. I dont go to church regularly but i do pray a lot and i do believe in the Devine Being, but in every actions that i do..i always take into considerations not only the people around me but also my personal beliefs and views.

Women are subjugated to the will of their husbands. Husbands are God's ministers in the home, so the woman must submit to all of her husband's commands. She must do this joyously, for it is God's will. So what do you think, does that sound liberating or oppressive? I vote "oppressive".

It depends on your denomination. Many believe that women can't be pastors or hold any positions of authority. They also believe that women should be submissive to their husbands in all ways. To me that is oppressive.
