ill answer
freethinking for me is the same as thinking outside the box. looking at things from a logical and somewhat educated perspective (i say somewhat to leave room for peoples level of education). using science, logic and reason as processing machines, inputing the information ("does god exist?" for example) and allowing the proceses to process.
eventually an answer will come out. usually against the existence of god or gods.
freethinking offers me a better life because im not constrained by my beleifs. the rules of archaic religions that i must abide by or be sent to a plane of existence where ill be torturd for eternity.
religion to me is the theological equivalent of a bully. do what the bully says or there will be much suffering. the bully has become such a character that its now worshipped. the threat it gives is seen as 2 different choices (beleive in god of your own free will or suffer eternal pain) the reality of the matter is that it isnt a choice.
"do it or die" doesent give many choices. obviously no one wants to die...surely no one wants to be tortured for all of eternity. free thinking allows me to bypass such archaic thoughts and allow myself the full range of my brain. i can learn about anything and no form of information or knowledge is 'evil"
i could go on for days about this!

i'm a freethinker and function a feeling of a faith of a few thing greater bigger than myself controlling the schematics of fact. i think of you supply your self too plenty credit with regard to you being the authority on what freethinking includes. although my "faith" isn't defined by using any text fabric or faith based perception, I see the international merely as you do and freethink all day long. the version is this, I understand the enormous power of a narrative and delusion, and can see previous the watered down labels that conformists rely on vulnerable minds to stick to.

I feel that it offers more flexibility and opportunity for change. A person who considers herself a Freethinker is more likely to be openminded about things like new research in science, sociology, or history.
To paraphrase "Dogma": It's too hard to change a belief.

All I can say is that if you are HONEST with yourself, you will not rely on faith. Faith requires you to lie to yourself, to believe what your intelligence rejects. If you think lying to yourself is a better life, fine. But if truth means more to you, then Freethinking is the answer. Lying to yourself makes you feel guilty and embarrassed. Why would you lie? What can you gain? Lying to yourself can ruin whatever life you have.

Obviously if you are a freethinker and your children are sick you would take them to a doctor whereas in you relied on faith and the theory that god would provide, then you would just pray for them to get better and watch them die.

Rejecting authority only brings bitterness and anger and destroys your soul. Those of faith think freely, we think on holy, good and profitable things which produce love, peace, joy and happiness. I'll take those.
