There are so many players around. but if u 1 a player that plays all format. Simple interface. Try Media Player Classic in a Codec Pack. It plays all sorts of files with the codec pack. You don't need REALPlayer and QuickTime at all.

Personally, I use only this 2 Player for Video files. Media Player Classic and VLC Player. VLC Player is like a last resort in case MPC can't play the file (I don't like the interface). for songs i use non other the iTunes. iTunes have a function that really feels like those classic jukebox. try it.

you can get these from:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

I hope this helps. Though it is slightly out of your question. :)

But these are Media Players. If you want media players that are popular (other then Windows). Those i stated above are also media players.

I found TCPMP extremely efficient across all platforms (desktop, Palm OS 5, Pocket PC) there is a link, it is capable to play MP3 in background with a heavy graphics game at the front while Windows Media Player for Pocket PC cannot.

http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/ The desktop version is minimal in interface because it is modelled after the PDAs; but one good thing is flipping its display.

windows is the best media player. tried a few others. the pay version of Music Match is pretty good, too, but Windows Media Player gives you more control over the functions.
