fundamentals- like a good comfortable grip, stance to the ball, with good posture, knee flex, and spine tilted slightly away from, but still in line with the target, and above all, and most importantly.. maintaining balance throughtout your swing. RELAXED.. cant stress it enough. relaxed swing.. concentating on fundamentals, and fixing slight flaws i've developed over time, has dropped 10-15 strokes off my game this summer. putting my feet a little closer together and really working on my weight shift has put 30 more yards on my best drives. tim herron has played since he was 8, grew up basically on a golf course, and has hit probably 100,000 more golf balls than you or me, so i'll count that as the last fundamental, repetition. there's 70 and 80 year old men that play every day, know just how they'll hit it from playing forever, and wear you out with 190-yard drives right down the center of the fairway. after telling you all this, i'd have to say that the real secret, that will help you the most in golf, as in life, is faith in yourself.. i believe i can do it, i know i can do it damn well, and i wont give up until i hit em like i want to.

yes, Ben hogan had it. if u can figure it out from the last book he wrote then you will be worth many millions of dollars. I am 6'4 and weigh about 320. so u can call me a fat*** if you want. i made a hole in one on a 357 yard par four. i have the certificate from the state park system to prove. but when i was 25 and was the same height and weighed a hundred lbs less. then i hit it over a 364 par four green with a persimmon wood and a balata ball. if you folks even know what the premium ball in golf for about 75 years is. i have long arms and a long arch, with high club head speed. but i have seen little guys blow it past me with no problem. it is hitting it dead center in the club face with the club face square. that is what the Ben hogan book is for. if not the take about a lesson a week all summer long. hit about 300 to 500 balls a day. and remember drive for show, putt for to win the money.

tim herron is fat so when he weight shifts he creates a huge lag in his swing, lag being the angle made by the arm and the golf club on the downswing, because of his giant weight shift that angle is extremely narrow making the golf club rapidly accelerate at the bottom of the swing creating great club head speed... many players have a larger angle between the arm the club on the down swing which robs them of club head speed and consistency

No secret really, it is all about club head speed. The larger the arc of the club, the more speed.
Ball must be hit squarely, and with a draw (right to left for righties, reverse for lefties), the ball will roll more once it hits the ground.
A draw has topspin, a fade (opposite) has backspin.

torque
think of a drive shaft on a truck. the longer it is the less torque that can be generatedunless it also increases in diameter. so a short person with a thick body is like a short and thick driveshaft which can produce some serious torque which is why a short fat *** like my self can hit a ball 290 consistantly (im 5'7 and 180 lbs but am pretty flexable so i can turn more than most and torque the ball out there a ways)

Assuming you currently hit your driver 220 yards.
Practice to get a consistent swing = +35yrds
Good clubs (the pros clubs irons have smaller heads + smaller sweet spots so they go further). Their drivers have lower loft.
Taylor Made R5 9 degree Driver +50yards
Taylor Made RAC Irons +30yrds per club (it means you can toss your 5 wood).
The pros use expensive balls (but they don't last long). A mid priced Titelist will give you +10yrds
An expensive ball will add +20yrds
