so many choices, so many really good and evil choices

Hitler is probably in the top 100
as is Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Vlad the Impaler, the Khans, Attila the Hun, Himmler, all of the ones responsible for the Holocaust....
But my favorite guy...a heck of a role model....a guy that-by all written accounts-seemed to enjoy his job...a barrel of laughs...

Torquemada....the head of the Inquisition....
in addition to the torture and killings, robbery and rape
...
the Inquisition destroyed the economies of many sections of europe...[spain especially]...set learning and education back hundreds of years...furthered the witch hunts across europe...

what a guy!!!!
and all in the name of holy mother [catholic] church

~If you are talking about the death and destruction resulting from his teaching and caused by his followers, I'd have to give it to Jesus Christ, hands down. Ask the Inca, the Aztec, the "noble savages of North America, the Saracins, the Jews, the dissenting christians of Middle Age Europe, the Hawaiians, the Tahitians, the Japanese, the Inuit, the Aussie Aborigine, the Maori, the Zulu, the Hutu, or anyone else who had the misfortune to be trodden under the heal of his benevolent teachings.

I was going to say Adam because he got us kicked out of the garden, but since you say no fictional characters I will have to say Charlemagne, first because he's french, second because he forced Christianity on my ancestors by the sword, third because he stupidly divided his kingdom between his three sons laying the basis for a lot of wars, and fourth because he was french

George W Bush - for lying to the American people. For being responsible for the death of over 3,000 people during the 9/11 drama. - For the death of over 3,000 soldiers in the middle east and also the serious injury wounds to countless others, not to mention the many civilian deaths and injuries. All this for oil. His religion is himself as he pictures himself as God's messenger.

Hitler, who I believe was Christian.

***

Ehh, I did some quick research and now I'm not so sure. I think he accepted some elements of Christianity but rejected other elements. (It's hard to find an unbiased answer for that question.)
