He might be speeding to keep up with the dopehead armed with the AK-47 wile he waits for back up to arrive...

Let me ask you... would you pass a cop if he was doing 1 mph under the speed limit??

It isn't okay but because they are cops they get away with it also the cell phones we'll get a ticket but it's okay for them to talk while they're driving I know I followed a cop 4 a good 3 mins lol

How do you know they are just driving?
Many agency's response policy restrict a code 3 (lights & sirens) response to only the most urgent calls.
However; many calls still justify a rapid response at the best possible speed---which may appear to you that a cop is speeding.

If they don't speed like the rest of us it will slow traffic down because nobody ever wants to pass a cop no matter how slow he's driving.

If the call isn't high priority, officers are encouraged to keep the lights and sirens off unless needed (like an intersection). This prevents other drivers from being distracted by the racket, which may cause them to cause a collision.

Believe it or not...Quick response dictates it. However...a siren or red light is not always the proper course. Hold-up alarms or burglar alarms call for silent response, especially if they are close to the address. Most cops WANT to get there as soon as possible.

It's not if they are "just driving". however they have specific legal permission to respond to emergency calls at high speed - running light and the whole 9 yard - w/o lights and serien if they think the lights etc might be a problem - such as alert an armed robbery in progress

Absolutely not. Every police car has a number on the back of it somewhere (not the lic plate). Get the number and call it in the desk SGT. They may not DO anything, but in most cases they will say something to the officer.

It is not OK for cops to speed. Just because they do something doesn't automatically make it right.

Everybody speeds. Sometimes they are speeding to a call that is serious, but not serious enough (yet) to require lights and sirens.
