my son has taken it, currently in air force..............the BEST advice is really get the book, best $15.00 spent as he was doing it in real time as he would be in the actual test.....doing the practice ones on the comp. made his times off...............so to recreate the test to the way it will be done on the actual day the book was better........he found certain parts very easier but did struggle with the 'shop' type questions............
Good luck on it and just by looking at how you have phrased things with the correct grammar etc I dont think you have much to worry about.....what level score are you aiming for ?

i took it years ago.....it was kind of fun, actually... we were allowed to use scrap paper for the mathwork but it needed to be handed in w/ the exam sheets. the whole point of the asvab test is to see what you are likely to have an aptitude for as a vocation...some parts may be easier for you than for another person, but then not everyone should be an accountant, right? the armed services still needs medics, transportation people, cooks, and a host of other jobs filled to run smoothly....i'd suggest you relax about this exam.
continue to increase your vocabulary usage with quality reading and a good dictionary...review your math with the practice exams if you want.......but mostly, be able to follow instructions. simple instructions, like how to mark the answer sheet and "put down your pencil". the rest will fall into place. the scoring shows pretty much what you are good at already....creative thinking, concrete thinking, analytical thinking, working with people, or with animals, or alone........that sort of thing. then those results are matched agqinst the kinds of jobs that the armed services have.....so please relax and get good sleep the days before...have a good breakfast the morning of the exam with protien and complex carbohydrates, and a little coffee or tea to get you going. then, just go for it! and "do well!" best wishes, cvj
ps- i think the only thing i did not qualify for was ....a typist! who would of thought?!! (L.O.L.!!!)

Oh brother. Reading some of the responses makes me want to puke. Take the ASVAB test. I hope you do well. It's based on 9th grade Math and Reading. As far as the recruiters, if you do well, I hope they contact you. It opens many jobs out there. Understand, there is NO business that will offer you the opportunities you will get in the service. Nobody can dispute that. Do your research and determine what you want to do and how you can make it all work to your benefit in the future. If the service doesn't fit with your goals, don't enlist. Good luck.

If you can tie your shoes you will pass. I took the practice tests and they all said I would get a 87, and I got an 87. My advice is when you get to the coding section if you start to run out of time and are not done just make sure you answer all of them (I.E. mark all the ones left over A, or C, or whatever) most people do not finish that section. They do not deduct points for wrong answers, so this would only help you not hurt.

The whole point about the ASVAB score is to put you in a range for certain jobs. Depending on what you want to do in the military the score may make or brake you. Getting the book is a good idea if you are unsure about how to take the test. It should give you tips.

If you are taking the practice tests online that's all you will need, unless you are not bright then a book may help. But try to get a GT score of at least 110 or above, that will help give you more options such as different jobs and officer schools.

I have, and I whooped its ***. The Air Force wouldn't leave me alone. ( I took it while I was in high school so I could get out of class.)
Don't worry, I didn't find it that difficult. There are many sections to get graded on, and yes, I do believe that they give you paper for the math part. As far as advice, CALM DOWN! Just do your best and go over some of the stuff you have trouble with.

everyone in the military has taken the asvab! it isnt that hard it is a very simple test. it depends on where you take your test if it is on paper or computer... i took my asvab at 2 different places at school on paper and at the MEPS station on the computer. Good luck!

i took it last year. it was on the computer but they did give us scrap paper to do the math. you'll probably be doingit on the computer too and remember with the computer version you cant go back and go over your questions or go back to the ones you skip.
umm...i made the mistake of studying for everything. just find out which are most important for the MOS/Rate you want and study what would help you the most. good luck

I was three years out of High School when I took the ASVAB.
I did not study, was up over 24 Hours. and somewhat hung over.
Scored an 86 and the Recruiter kept pushing Nuclear Power School on me.
I chose Electronic Warfare. (RADAR intercept and Jamming)
