It should be really cheap and not too powerful. if you learned to drive in public school from a driving instructor, you are going to wreck at least the first one. So, try to put the minimum into it. After you have a wreck, then get a book on driving and learn how to drive, and you can get a good car.
The best first car for a teenager is an old Dodge, small one, with about 130,000 miles on it. That means most of the time it will be in your dad's garage with you working on it, so while it is broke you will not be having wrecks, thus increasing your life expectancy.
Then, after you make a pile of twisted metal out of it, you can get a nice Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla that will run 250,000 miles

There are many things that you need to look for a car, especially
when you're buying it for the first time. I would suggest you buy
a brand new car, because it relieves you of the problems, for at
least 3 years, of breakdown/stalling/engine and starting troubles
etc.
Listed below are some useful tips to look out by first-timers:-
1. the affordability in the price;
2. foreign make or local with type and engine's capacity in mind;
3. efficient or economy in fuel consumption;
4. resale value after 5 years of usage;
5. cost of spare parts of car;
6. easy servicing and maintenance of car.
I hope with the above info, you're able to make the right
decision. Good Luck!

look for milage. previous owners. try to find out what maintainance has been done. the vin number can tell you a cars full history but places charge a fee to tell you and it can take time. appearance is all to your liking. if you dont feel comfortable in the car dont get it, no matter what the price. toyotas and hondas are good high milage cars. ford and gm cars are easier to repair. choose wisely

You want foreign cars....They are way more reliable and when they do break they are usually easier to repair. You also want low milage. anything under 100k miles should be ok.
