I believe that the Bible is fact. I believe that God gave it to man. But, that is my opinion and no one has to agree with me. It was not shoved down my throat growing up... and oddly enough I live in the heart of the Bible belt.

Most certainly the Bible is not at all fiction, but the perfect Word of God. So do not ever allow anyone to tell you such. If you will read in the 24th. chapter of Matthew, you can see in the world today, the perfect fulfillment of the scriptures. And you will see many more of them fulfilled as the days pass. There is nothing fiction about the Bible. It is truly from God's own mouth.

The trouble with dismissing the Bible as fiction is you can't get around all of the prophecies in it which were made hundreds or thousands of years earlier but came true. In Isaiah 51, written down over a thousand years before Jesus' birth, it describes exactly how Christ would die in our place. In the book of Ezekiel he describes airplanes and cars thousands of years before they existed. For centuries archaeologists thought the city of Ninevah was fictional, until just over 100 years ago they finally found it, right where the Bible said it was. For thousands of years people thought the Earth was flat, but in the book of Psalms it clearly states "The Lord is He Who sits on the circle of the earth." Look up the word "circle" in the original Hebrew and it actually means "sphere". That was written down thousands of years ago, way before Columbus or modern scientists found out the earth was in fact round. The Bible describes dinosaurs which lived on the earth the same time as man, but until lately scientists didn't know that. Just a few years ago they found a man's footprints on the same fossil as a dinosaur, proving the Bible correct once again. The Bible is true. It has a few small errors in translation, but you can count on it for the important stuff, like how to be sure you will go to heaven when you die! Read the book of John to find that out.

The Library system places the Bible in the Reference section.
The reference section is made up of 100% non-fiction.
No person has EVER proven one thing false in the Bible.
A great many things have been proven true in the Bible.
It's really not even a valid argument to say it's fiction.

The Bible is the Word of God. In it's pages you find salvation for the soul. The Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins, He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification. Do you really want to say the Bible is fictional? Do you really want to take a chance that it not true. If you do and there is one chance in a million it is true hell is real. Trust in what He done for you. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Historically, some of the broad events of the Bible took place and can be at least partially substantiated by independant sources from other cultures. However, the spiritual claims of the Bible are completely false. There is no reliable, believeable evidence to support the existence of a deity.

I don't think so. Sorry to hear about the Catholic school thing, I had to endure some of that myself. Needless to say, now I am a Protestant and happy. Peace!

I disagree, it's mostly fact with perhaps some sections that have changed over the years since it has been 2000 years. A man named Jesus really did exist during the Roman times and was executed.

I think some of it is definitely fiction. Like Noah's ark and Jonah in the whale. But those are not the stories that bug me. They can be read as allegories. The parts which bother me are the parts which are supposed to be factual which aren't, or the parts which are supposed to be moral, and are really immoral.
