There's this guy that I kinda like, but he just confessed his love to one of my friend this summer but she dumped him and although they are friends, they don't speak so often now. And now he always hangs out with me, sometimes just the two of us. He doesn't know that I know about his confession though. Does this mean he has gotten over the other girl or just messing with me now?

And the dilemma is that i can't ask him straight forward if he still likes this girl because she is my best friend and she secretly told me about his confession, so if i bring up that issue, i could possibly destroy my friendship as well.

it means it's all just infatuation and in his mind he loved her because he had a crush on her and thought she was great and everything ,but now that she's gone oh well he will probably do the same thing to you if his feelings are that immature he confesses he loves people and throws it around like it's nothing this is why some schools ban dating all it does is makes everyone depressed and angry because teens can't seem to work things out and just get infatuated by people with the best looks

Guys as far as I know take the longest to confess their feelings. The fact that he did to her this summer means that it might be quite real and it's unlikely that he is over it already.

He may like you and you two may have a chance together if he does but my advice is to give it some time. It isn't wise to start something with someone who has recently given their heart to someone and had it broken. He needs time to get over it and you deserve someone who will focus on you and appreciate the great person you are. He cant do that if he is hung up on someone else. Maybe in time he will.

Ask him how he feels about her. He will tell you if you are close.

I've done this thing myself. It's a self-esteem thing. We need to feel liked or needed. So when we are rejected we desperately seek it wherever we can get it. Hence the "rebound relationship." With this factor of self-esteem it's difficult to determine if he truly likes you or is simply using you. Sorry but that's what's going on.

If you love someone it takes time to get over them he is either hanging out with you to try to make her jealous or it could be possible that he likes you ask him

Could mean both. Why not ask him...You're friends right...what could it hurt?
