try getting your doctor to switch medication or get the prescription upped. You don't have to hit rock bottom to finally come back up....if i feel myself going back into my manic state, i go for help and get myself back in check. But there is a point you can hit the point of no return when it just doesnt matter anymore and you either wind up dead or in the hospital....not my idea of a fun time, since it, at one time happened to me.

Don't believe the hype. First, depression and happiness are not tricky to achieve. You and only you must define each and their parameters. More importantly, you must accept that life will keep you in a state of flux so that you will never always be in one state or the other. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE in your depressive state. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE to pull yourself out of the nose dive. It's obvious that you have been sliding down a slope for quite some time so you now know that there are no magic pills or rituals etc that make a difference. Take that knowledge and define the parameters and accept all the things that you cannot change. Don't chase god, if he exists then you already have the power at your disposal to turn your life around. You only need a crutch until you are healed after wards you need confidence to drop the crutch. Have confidence! Basically you define the bottom. I think that today would be a good day to do that.

Has anyone ever mentioned to you that you may be Bipolar? What you just described are classic signs of Bipolar Disorder. I would ask a Psychiatrist to evaluate you to see if you are Bipolar and not just depressed. Maybe you are on the wrong meds that is possibly why they do not work. Therapy never worked for me either but I would find a Psychiatrist for an evaluation to rule out Bipolar Disorder. Good Luck

Absolutely! Some have to hit a really low bottom. Britney Spears has lost so much already but she's not living under the bridge...yet. Some recovered alcoholics were "High Bottom Drunks" others "Low Bottom". Some of the morbidly obese are at death's door beofore they develop the insight they need. The principal of "Tough Love" as presented by James Dobson helps our wayward loved ones reach that point sooner and it works. Blessings- Juju

been where you are-and it's not an easy place to be-first take care of your body -get healthy-any kind of exercise-at least 20 min. a day-eat right -watch your calories-fat intake-then take sometime for yourself-hobby-school etc. once your feeling good about yourself in the physical sense-you can get out and do stuff-what ever it is you like to do-do it-set a goal to clean your self up-then take a hard look @ the people that would give anything to be in your shoes-volunteer work at a hospital n. homes etc.will set you straight-pray to God for guidance so you can do some good in this world for other people-there could be someone out there that is in worst shape then you-and could use your help-good luck

Thats exactly how it is for so many ppl. They try to committ suicide and fail and then end up on meds. Then realize they want to live. Alcoholism is the exact same.. Some alcoholics lose everything before they realize they need to stop drinking.

You need to keep trying meds, youll find one. Dont give up.

Commit yourself for suicidal thoughts. I have done that. Hitting rock bottom for a depressed person is death. Get help now.
