Christian------
People in general are stupid, but think they're smart, which makes them stupider than your ordinary stupid. :)

I am a Christian. According to standardized tests, I am significantly above average in intelligence. (I don't know how to say that tastefully.) I hold a doctorate degree. I know atheists who are highly intelligent and educated. I know far more Christians who are highly intelligent and educated. I suspect that that is a function of the type of people I attract.
By definition, people, in general, must be average. That much is self-evident. As humans judge intelligence, I would predict that stupid people will say people are stupid. Intelligent people will say that average people are average. Those will very low self-confidence and those who are trying hard to be nice will consider the average person to be unusually intelligent.
I remember as a child in public school, I was constantly being told how smart I was. I remember telling my dad on one occasion that I didn't really feel so smart, but often, other people seemed so dumb. I don't have any feelings about that now, but your question caused me to reflect on that memory.

Well let me just say I dont think very many people are actually stupid, but for the sake of Yahoo Answers: Here's what society thinks
Christians are stupid about reality because in reality Christianity is stupid.
Atheist are smarter in general than christians because they live more in reality and generally tend to see through stupid people. They relize more. Atheism is still practically a religion becuase it is the belief of no God, it's still a belief.
I beleive in humans and life and death and helping other people while pushing others away. Thier is a certain circle of life and each person plays thier part.
So the answer to your questions
People are stupidly smart in general and I am smart by acting stupid and being General.
See what Im trying to say. Im in the middle

I'm not an Atheist for sure,
but I'm not in blind love with any Christian church I have visited or joined either. I class myself Christian
There is absolutely no doubt that the vast majority of people on this planet are ignorant and just dumb, while about 10 % are not only
smart but many are quite smart, 5% even brilliant.

Growing up, in college, and in graduate school, I thought I was the high end of the average range. Then I left school and entered the real world. Out here, the average person is about as smart as a particularly clever border collie.

I think there's a bell shaped curve of intelligence with most people falling near the average. So, if you consider humans to be the most intelligent earthly beings, then I'd say most people are "average."
I'm an atheist. But I don't consider faith to be an issue with regards to intelligence/stupidity.

Well, this atheist thinks that, in general, I think people are intelligent--if caught early and taught to think rationally, most do pretty well. Unfortunately, most are poorly educated and never taught to think or enjoy learning by the public school system or their parents. The saddest part is that most of them never even realize it.

I like to put it this way, The majority of humans on earth suffer from two major problems.
1. Collective amnesia. They seem to be unable to connect the dots as regards their places in current, recent and older history.
2. Unwary stooges of propaganda. While most people think, that they have independent thought, the fact is the overwhelming masses are cerebral plagiarists.

I'm a brand new Christian (3 days) and I say most people are average. That makes sense. Stupid and smart are relative terms. We say dolphins are smart, but compared to most humans, they're actually pretty stupid.
So it is a relative term. But of course, compared to me, most people are stupid. hahahaha.
