My 13 year old is waiting for test results to find the location of his testicals. Dr stated they are there somewhere for he IS going thru pubirty but two Dr.'s were unable to feel them anywhere. Now they are talking surgery and my son is going crazy for this is a big thing for a 13 year old. I have heard of this being found in babies but not teens. Anyone go thru this or know someone who has at a late age?

I knew a man who had an undescended left testicle, and he was able to father a child. I can certainly understand your son's anxiety about the situation, but medicine is so advanced these days, that there's lots of things that can be done to correct the problem. I would think surgery would be a last resort. If I were you, I would consult a urologist -- that's a doctor that specializes in diseses and disorders of the urinary or genital systems, particularly in males. I doubt if he would recommend surgery, and instead would just tell you to wait it out. Eventually, one or both of the testicles should descend. If not, your son might still be able to have children when he grows up. I would get a second opinion before rushing to surgery.
