I've had my hair dyed to a pretty chestnut brown(medium golden tone) and am getting extremely tired of it :P So now I'm thinking about changing my hair color but not sure whether I should go lighter or darker...I made two options for myself based on my skin tone - medium with pinkish undertone, and there are :

1- go all the way to jet black (might adding blonde or copper highlights later on if I get bored of the black).

2- keep the chestnut brown but adding black lowlights to the bottom portion of my hair (think of what Xtina did a while ago with her blonde hair and black lowlights).

So what do you people think I should do with my hair?

Thanks :)

I have a golden brown hair color as well. It is getting sooo boring. For winter though dark hair looks better than light hair. So dye it back to black/brown whatever your natural color is. Im going too!!

I think that you should stick with the color you have and then add to it. Color it and do both low lights and highlights. Add a few of the blond right next to a dark low light. Have your hair stylist weave the colors back and forth. That would create a great look, and get a little darker and lighter in there at the same time! It will look totally sexy! Your hair will look darker, but you will have the highlights to give it a pop.

Dying your hair jet black all at once might be too extreme.

Start out by going a shade or two darker first and see how you like it.

Jet Black can look to harsh on a lot of skin tones and you could end up looking like one of those morbid people that wear those chunky black boots... whatever they are called...gothic.

Wow! I like number 1 - but then I'm partial to black hair. If I had enough hair to keep from looking like a bald old man with a combover I'd wear mine blue black! I think the blonde highlights would look cool too! Have fun!

I would say, add some lowlights then color the tips a lightish brown. My friend did it and it turned out really gorgeous! I totally envy her!!
Good Luck! <333

Don't do jet black, its too hard to go lighter, and look s horrible on most.
A very deep brown would be lovely in the fall/winter
