You shouldn't do it every night for 2 reasons...1. It has a very high sodium content which over time can wreck the kidneys, and 2. Any antacid will neutralize stomach acid to the point that if you have eaten a food laden with bad bacteria you will easily get food poisoning because normally your hydrochloric acid in the stomach would kill the bacteria, but you have weakened the acid so you wind up putting yorself at risk for getting sick. Try Tums, they are a bit less harmful and they contain calcium which will be beneficial.

Alka Seltzer Night

Alka-Seltzer is effective, but it has a very high degree of sodium, which is bad for your blood pressure and internal organ function. If you are taking the Alka-Seltzer for indigestion and heartburn, try taking cider vinegar tablets, I have been taking them for about a year now and I very rarely have any problems with acid indigestion any longer. Natures Bounty is the company that makes them, and I purchase them at Rite-Aid. If I am going to be eating heavy or spicy foods, I will actually take a couple of spoonfuls of apple cider vinegar, and I will not have any problems. This is very effective, natural and will not shut down all of your natural stomach acids, which is very bad for your digestive system. High blood pressure runs in my family, so I have to watch my salt intake, and most of the over the counter remedies are highly salted. Give the cider vinegar a try, it will help and may alleviate most of your problems. Good luck and have a good night!

What they said ^. and also it contains Aspirin which thins your blood, it will slightly decrease your chance of heartattack, but when you bleed [get cut/scraped, or menstruate(women only of course)] a signifcantly greater amount of blood will come out. So if you do dangerous work [guns or machinery] then stop taking it or reduce dose.
Also if you know any women who do the same thing and they are pregnant or nursing tell them to stop immidiately.
