No, it really is an city legend. at the start, in case you leave the bottle interior a vehicle, the glass of the vehicle will block the UV radiation. So till you're leaving the bottle interior the back of a convertible, there is not any concerns about UV and the plastics. 2d, all plastics used for foodstuffs and different safe to eat/drinkable substances were notably examined below the most ridiculous situations to guard hostile to easily that available state of affairs. warmth, chilly, image voltaic, darkness, electromagnetic radiation -- you call it, they have examined for it. What you'll finally end up with is warm water in a bottle that ought to deform completely. even with the indisputable fact that the quantity of chemical substances which will leach into the water is negligible. No Not at all. in fact if you keep cold water in a Sterile Pet bottle (not an ordinary Plastic Bottle) and leave it in sunlight some of the bacterias present in the water gets killed and boiled water is good for the digestive system. In fact no one uses the bottle for long time and all are throwaways only.

If you have such apprehension you may avoid taking water from plastic water bottles.

I have never heard of that line used before. We all know, we will eventually take the water bottle out of the car to wash it and refill it, so it
sounds silly to me.

I think the "jury" is still out on the plastic (dioxin) causing cancer from water bottles either heated, microwaved or even reused.... check out Snopes.com - based on their information this statement is false.

I don't think you need to worry about that. I'd be more concerned about the hormones they put in our food to increase production volumes and the chemicals they use to fertilize and prevent insect infestation.
