polymers being sig p220, springfield xd, glock, etc.
which do you prefer and why?

I carried a 1911 for several years and they are a great gun. Very reliable, better of the two types for target shooting and very easy to work on. Their draw back is weight they are heavy.
The polymers are lighter,double action and have a larger magazine capicity. usually you can get the first shot off quicker unless your carring the 1911 ****** and locked. However they are not as accurate or durable. I choose the 1911!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer the 1911's and clones. My favorite is a Wilson Combat .45 semi-auto, 8 round capacity clone of a 1911. It will hold a 1/2 inch group at 20 yards using a rest. I really prefer the all metal pistols over the polymer framed guns.Yes, the polymers are lighter, but felt recoil is heavier as well. I am just more confident and comfortable shooting a 1911 type pistol. All the weapons you mentioned are fine guns and you should pick the one you prefer. You will probably shoot better with it than one you don't like. When it comes right down to it, it is all a matter of personal preference to begin with. They are all capable of doing a good job. I prefer the 1911's.

My primary carry is a Springfield 1911 A-1. I like the idea of being able to beat the bad guy with it if I run out of ammo. You can't do that with combat tupperware.
Also, almost a century and is still as effective as when John Browning designed it

I have a Glock and want to sell it. 1911s in my opinion just feel better all around.

i preffer the para ordinance because of the high capacity magazine and special recoil reducing features and also available in double action
the sig has a steel frame
plus you should'nt bring tupperware to a gunfight

i got a kimber 1911 and i love it. low recoil, very acurate and just fun to shoot. i have never really liked the polymers they just dont feel right in my hand and they kick too hard because they are too light.

I think both are viable and have advantages, but for me I really like the 1911 platform. I like how it points, its dependability and accuracy. (My kimber is one of the most accurate handguns I own). I like the 'traditional' factor and its balance.

-Very accurate
-Single action ****** and locked carry modes as well as DA/SA
Once you shoot one, you won't buy any more brands. I haven't since I got mine....

I prefer a ruger KP90 myself. not to stiff on price, fairly good quality. It works for my purposes.

Colt or Para-Ordnance. I shoot Para-Ordnance most of the time.
