My daughter's VW Beetle's side airbag deployed while sitting in her school parking lot, causing $2,000 in damages. She had a tire blow out on her car earlier, which VW is saying caused the airbag to blow. She was not in an accident of any kind. Luckily no one was sitting in the passenger seat when this bag blew, or they would have been injured as a result.

they should be fixing your car for free, this could be one of those bugs they havent worked out, having a flat tire might have set off the computer or something, not sure on how they do it, but the flat tire might have set it off, no matter what set it off they should fix it for free, cuz it is nothing you did, if they refuse to fix it then you might want to get your lawyer involved...

A flat tire should not have caused the air bag to go off at all

hope all goes well and it is fixed without problems

the flat tire was probably not the culprit. side curtain airbags are designed to go off during a roll-over. if the keys are in the off position, all airbag systems are inactive. what could have happened is that the vehicle was lifted by the jack during the tire change... causing the computer to "think" the vehicle was rolling over.. all caused by the keys being in the on position while changing the flat. might want to ask again .. when did the airbag go off.
another possibility is that the vw was a flood damaged vehicle at one time and the flood waters have "wicked" throughout the wiring harness causing endless possible problems. a vehicle history search might be in order. there are numerous "new" vehicles that have made their way into the market from the hurricanes from last year.

in no way have, in no way will very own a VW, yet call the dealership and spot if VW has a keep in mind on that form motor vehicle for this difficulty. (some situations they're going to do what's called a "Silent keep in mind", it is whilst they won't admit something, yet could desire to you whinge approximately something, they're going to repair it). in the event that they did, take it to the broking and have them shield it. in the event that they did no longer, then you definately could desire to strengthen a stink approximately it, it extremely is a pretend installation simply by fact of a sensor it is too delicate, or it extremely is defective from the maker. Notify VW place of work and whinge approximately it. A blown tire, be it and quite BLOW OUT or purely a pop blow out shouldn't installation the any of the airbags.
