I'm not in a situation where I need to know how to fight right now, but i'm pretty sure sometime soon in the future i'll need to know. Anyways I know there is no one step to ultimate fighting skills, but what is a good strategy and/or good way to take down an aggressor? (example) Like punch to the gut then a knee to the nose

any technique you can use is going to help you. In a fight on the street, it's no rules no holds barred.

Your opponent is going to do everything he can to hurt you or even kill you; so sometimes you have to reply to violence with violence and finish with violence.

Most of your main striking points are directly in line with each other: eyes, the bridge of the nose, the throat (not highly reccommneded for someone who doesn't have good control, but it's still an excellent target), solar plexus (just beneath the breast bone where the ribs atatch and the diaphragm is located), the groin.

but to effectively disable an opponent, using a technique that will injure the opponents knee will give you more time to get away, and serve as a good deterrent for them not to follow you, once they've recovered from your initial response.

But there is NO magic way to get the timing, speed, or power you need to be effective so practicing several techniques is the only way to get proficient enough for efficacy.

In the end there's not a guarantee that the technique will work; while the two techniques you described are good ones to use and most people are susceptible to those attacks, but there are a few that may need a little more encouragement to stay clear of you, so you need to have a backup plan if plan A doesn't do the trick.

You have to train; in your punching techniques, kicking techniques, grappaling, or throwing techniques, that's the only way to really be effective, training daily on techniques will help more than any single type of tactic.

and studying one or more Martial Arts will help you to become proficient.

good luck

The best time to plant a tree is 100yrs ago.
There is no fast path or magic bullet technique. The art of self-defense needs to be developed like any other skill. You can't just hear about it or see it to get it. You must aggresivly obtain it. Live it.
Then if something happens you will already have had some level of training, so start training now.

aggressor is the easiest type of fighter to take down just give him a good counter with a upper cut or a hook. Those kind of fighters never see it coming.

Always keep your hands up to protect your head.

Always keep a step or two between you and them. This may give you time to react.

Always keep one foot forward to protect your groin/lower abs.

When the time comes and you cannot run, jump right in the middle of them with elbows, punches, claws, knees, any thing that works until you win or can run.

Two easiest fighting techique for you would be call:

"Haymaker"
"Windmill punch"

Easiest combo woluld be "drunk hillbilly power combo" which include combine of two techniques I named above.

I don't need to tell you how to do it because 99% of people end up do all of those in real fight without any training.
