It is the term used in the U.K. and other Commonwealth countries for what we in the U.S. call baked potatoes.

Jacket potatoes are potatoes that are cooked in there skin on. you have cleaned un peeled potatoes wrap tight in alfoil tin foil and bake until they are cooked that will depend on the size of the potatoes and how your oven works try and keep the potatoes about the same size. to test stick a skewer in them they will be soft all the way through you can serve with sour cream or butter you can take the foil off your self and serve or you can unwrap them a little and let the person open them. They are really yummy I hope you give them a try We have these in Australia

I use to live in England and "jacket potatoes" were the same as baked potatoes.

I think that it is another name for baked potatoes, you know with the skins (jackets) on.
