I believe Pope John Paul II was a Christian. He wasn't right about every thing though. He once sanctified an ugly idol in Cuba also.

Kissing the Koran would be bowing to the beast as I see it.

The Pope did lead many people to God's saving grace though. That is where His rewards are from God.

The idol honoring & Koran kissing got fried & didn't go to heaven with him.

I have prayed to God about Pope John Paul II's salvation. I believe God gave me assurance He is in heaven with the Lord.

Pope John Paul II was a historic pope in many respects. He was a man of peace and finally recognized that the Quran is indeed the continuation of the Bible in many forms.

Notice it that anything that Christians and Jewish people object that is taught in the Quran or by the Prophet of Islam was done by the good people that God supports in the OT or NT.

If you think Quran teaches violence, know it that David killed his tens of thousands and Joshua destroyed many cities, whereas, less than 2700 were killed on all sides in ALL BATTLES during the eight of the ten war years in the life of the Prophet who did not begin to fight until he was fifty three, and had formed peaceful reprochement with almost all of his enemies two years before he died.

If you think polygyny is the evil that you oppose, then know it that Jacob or Israel himself was a polygamist, in whose lineage not only come Moses and David but also Jesus. If Jacob was not a polygynist, most or all of these great men would not be born.

If you are opposed to our Prophet marrying a very young adult or age difference abhors you, then know it that Abraham himself married a young woman when he was very advanced in age, and David married a young virgin when he was eighty years old (First paragraph, Kings 1).

So, unless hypocracy and lies is your way, how can anyone criticize a man you call a "false Prophet" while accepting the "same wrongs" in others who are considered good people and you name your children after David who had more than eighteen wives? or after Abraham who slept with a very young slave woman.

Now point to me what is wrong in the Quran and I will show you something much more serious in the Bible, EVERY SINGLE TIME and that is a challenge to anyone.

I hope this makes sense.

According to the following eyewitness, the Pope kissed the Koran as a sign that he has also great respect for Islam and that he was aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people.

The Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq, Raphael I Bidawid is the spiritual guide of the majority of Iraq's one million Christians -- who still celebrate their liturgy in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus.

Raphael I Bidawid, Patriarch of the Chaldeans told in an interview:

“On May 14th I was received by the Pope, together with a delegation composed of the Shiite imam of Khadum mosque and the Sunni President of the council of administration of the Iraqi Islamic Bank. At the end of the audience the Pope bowed to the Muslim holy book the Koran presented to him by the delegation and he kissed it as a sign of respect. The photo of that gesture has been shown repeatedly on Iraqi television and it demonstrates that the Pope is not only aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people, he has also great respect for Islam.”

With love in Christ.

yes Pope John Paul 2 kissed the koran. he kissed the ground of ever nation he entered as well. (the book is only a book - if not it's considered idol worship). you can read up on his life and see that this was done to instill harmony and peace among the religions. kissing the koran - which was as the old testament - was a sign of respect.
he also prayed at the wailing wall.
if you search hard enough you can also find a picture of him in a chair with -- gasp - an upside down cross! this is their country's honour as him as the current Peter - peter was crucified upside down.
search on - there are many things that can be misconstrued if you look for the negative instead of the truth.

God Bless!!

have you thought that he is showing tolerance and respect? the koran is the bible of another religion. it is also a beautiful book, the same as the bible. God, you can't see outside of your short-sightedness and willingness to let other people tell you what to think. 'kissing the devil' . my god, would you like somone of the islamic faith to say something that negative about the Bible? the stupidity and intolerance of stupid people is what led to things like the Holocaust.

Because unlike the present Pope, he was a good one, and had love for every human being, since we all, yes Muslims and all (for you muslim haters) are children of God, and siblings! So head great respect for all religions...
