I have thick black straight hair - i am asian!
I dont know what to do with my hair. I have a side swiped bangs right now and length is just below my shoulders with layers. I want to grow it and maybe get highlights, but they turn out orangy dont they? Any suggestions for straight hair? Any cool ideas?

Oh i was also wondering, What color highlights would look good on black straight hair? I was thinking about dark brown, caramel or red.

If you go to a stylist they can get highlights to not look orangy. Tell them you want "panels of brown" to lighten up your black hair but not look streaky like regular blonde highlights would.

The cut actually sounds cute. Ask the stylist for tips on different styles you could do with your hair.

Asian hair is the MOST beautiful hair ! I would wear it up with those chopstick looking hair sticks, beaded clips, pretty barrettes. Pretty ponytails, or curled. With your hair, embellishments are the key to any style you want to wear. When streaking, your hair must be processed a special way. You start by having your stylist gradually lighten the streaks until they are the color you want. You will always end up with red if you do it from home. Basically you have to strip the natural color out, and replace with what you want. Have a PROFESSIONAL do it.

One of my friends had this same problem. She finally convinced her mother to let her get red highlights, and it looks great! Whatever you do, I hope you're happy with it!
