The other ear is held up in the proper position only when she is alert. Can you continue to tape only one ear or should they both be taped? And will the ear that is being held past center eventually stand up straight?

how many weeks have you had the tape on for? I personally recommend to leave them on at least 3-4 weeks. Also, after the first week, i place a bar between and at teh tips to help them stay erect. If it hasn't been those 3 weeks yet, tape them back up ASAP. If it has, you might have waited too long to crop them or they might have not fully hardened yet. Either way, tape them back up until teh 4-5 weeks jsut to be safe. If not then, sorry to say, your ears won't be fully erect ever. Doberman ears are really pickey and finicky. If you don't get to them on time they don't look as good as they could. try taping them and placing a bar. if this doesn't work or its been past 3-4 weeks... sorry... better luck next time.

I have never dealt with Dobe's ears, but with the Shepherds, I find it easier to tape both so that they are braced together on top of the head. Not braced overpositioned. How old is this girl?

Call your vet. Why did you feel the need to have your dog cut in the first place? I never understood why people feel the need to mutilate their animals or lock them up in cages. (You can call it a crate, but it's still a cage) If it looks like a duck & walks like a duck, its still a duck.
