It's wonderful with just plain mayonnaise. But I will give you a great dip recipe that you will LOVE...buy a container of low fat sour cream. Add a package of KNORR vegetable soup powder and a can of water chestnuts chopped up. Buy a box of frozen spinach, thaw and chop finely. Mix it all together and let it sit overnight.
If you buy the round pumpernickel loaf you can make a bowl out of it by cutting the top and insides off. Cut those into bite sized pieces and put the dip inside the "bowl". Buy extra pumpernickel and just eat the two together.
You can buy the spinach dip from stores but it's nothing like home made.

It is a great bread that goes with just about anything and everything. I like it with a slice of Limburger cheese and a slice of mild raw onion.

You can get some thinly sliced roast beef and some russian dressing or even a dab of mayo, add what ever else you like. Maybe a nice cold crispy dill pickle on the side and a handful of potato chips or what ever else you may like.

Pretty much any deli meats/cheeses: turkey/swiss, ham/Muenster, roast beef, corned beef....
They are also great for a cucumber sandiwch, such as for tea.

I eat it with my mouth.
No seriously, you can eat it with anything. I like it with pastrami, corned beef, but cheese will work.

I toast it and dunk it in Clamato juice for breakfast.
I also use it for making Rubens or liverwurst and red onion sandwiches.
