How is it that some people can stay up late just about everynight, go out partying and drinking, but then still get up early the next day and not look like they are sleep deprived? I mean, their eyes are'nt bloodshot, there's no dark circles under their eyes and they seem alert. There is not a single day that I wake up and don't have bloodshot eyes and dark circles under my eyes, and that I'm not tired, regardless of how long I sleep. How do these other people do that? And what can I do?(Besides using Visine, that is)

I know that when I drink alot of water and lay off the caffiene, it helps alot....

Drink water....

Lay off the caffeine....

Wash your face in the morning but don't use eye drops all the time... they are bad for you...

I have chronic red eye and people always think that I'm high... I'm not... I haven't had a drink or a drug in years....
But my eyes get better when I don't use drops and wash my face every morning... and wash my hands throughout the day....

This sounds stupid but it works. Buy a cucumber and make sure it is fairly ripe. The riper the better it will work. Slice it and put slices on your eyes in the morning before you start your morning routines of washing, etc.

Takes about ten minutes.

A good way to avoid bloodshot eyes is to NOT watch TV or home DVD's in a completely dark room. This causes massive eye strain.

Also a diet change could be in order. Try eating more carrots and vegetables. Cut down on fries and fast food in general as this stuff can irritate just about any part of the body, depending on the genetic makeup of the person.

Eye drops will help also.

Avoid smoky rooms and allergy producing things like cats, housemold, and dust mites. Any of these could be triggering your dark circles and red eyes. Read about them on the net. Lots of info there.

Good luck with solving your problem.

The U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health provide an on-line Medical Encyclopedia. The encyclopedia offers information about eye redness, information including causes and treatments.

Cigarette smoke can be a big problem for eyes but you may also have a condition which causes your eyes to dry out a little bit so when you blink it irritates them even more.
See an Optometrist and find out if it's allergies or simple over-tiredness. (You may also be allergic to the laundry soap or dryer sheets you use on your pillow case ...)
