Nah, just goes to show you that there were sick a$$ people way back then, too. There really isn't anything new under the sun...Sin was sin then and sin is sin now.

These were people that made mistakes as humans do. Doesnt mean its acceptable, just that it happened. The Bible is a collection of 66 individual books that together tell the story of a group of people bound by a common faith in God. It is divided into two main sections: the Old Testament containing 39 books originally written primarily in Hebrew, and the New Testament containing 27 books originally written primarily in Greek. For Presbyterians and others of the Reformed tradition the Bible is the means by which Christian believers come to understand how God has been present with humanity since the beginning of time and is present in our world today. By studying the scriptures we can begin to know of God's faithfulness, constant love and eternal goodness.

Nope. No Law in effect against incest at that time.
His two daughters thought they were the last three people left alive.
Thus the two daughters got Lot drunk solely for the purpose of replenishing the earth.
Each bore son (Moab and Ammon)
They both founded great lands.
Land of Moab is mentioned in 22 books and Ammon in 19 books bible books.
Remember Abraham was married to his half sister (Sarah)!
Who did Cain marry? Had to be a family member.
Not to long ago-Kings and Queens married family (called Blue Blood) to keep Kingdom and riches together.
Times change. People change-
God is unchanging!

The bible is a collection of stories that each reflected the mores of their times. That's why some scriptures would damn you for speaking so publically as a woman. :)
Apologists for the bible are always trying to interpret it in an inoffensive way, so we won't find the stories there revolting. Actually, as any ancient lore usually contains some pearls of wisdom, I'm not against this kind of revision if we are to take some knowledge from it.
But isn't it ironic that the same people who so liberally interpret what the bible means (for example, saying that the bibles description of Lot having sex with his daughters is metaphorical or something) refuse to interpret our own constitution in light of our modern society. Weird and stupid, really.

Lot's daughters believed they three were the only people left in the world. They wanted sons, and they thought the only way to have them was to seduce Dad. Not having children would mean nobody to take care of them as they got older...something to think about.
It's always so easy for us to say what we would or would not do in someone else's situation...till we find ourselves in that very situation. It's always easy to throw rocks...never realizing that our own house is made of glass......

The Bible never says that incest is acceptable...it only states that Lot and his daughters did it.

well it was differnet, 1st cousins where alright to marry back then, but when you start thinkin about it, it all started with Adam and Eve, so that means there would have to be some incest to get things going. So it might of been ok for a little while, which is still sick to me.

So stong was their love for their respected tribal lineage and fathers name, that they planned to keep it alive from the patriarch's loins. They had to get him drunk, and probably imatated their mothers ways. They dwelt in tents. If you see a wrongdoing here, you don't understand what you are reading!

That is why their father was so angry when he woke up and found out what happened. They lost their faith in God and Satan put evil ways in their mind.
