Yes you could but what is the name now and why do you want to change it? Cats actually do respond to names. My two come whenever I call them. It's really cute.

sure, i had a cat named Mala Kala when she was around eight years old stopped coming to the name, started calling her others and finally when I called her Jenny she came to me. Cats are born with three names: the one their birth mommy gives them,the one you call them and the one they choose for themselves.

you can do whatever you want. THey don't respond to names anyways.
My cat went from Skye to SkyeLynn to SkyeLynn Rose. It's so hickish and country we loved it. haha. now we just call her fatty. lol
