an ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) is a registered nurse with a master's degree. This nurse has taken another standardized test that enables them to practice like a medical doctor in some states. In some states they can also write prescriptions and diagnose.

usually that would be Master of Science in Nursing. the degree that a nurse would get for advanced studies beyond her Bachelor of Science degree.
