A horse is tied to a 15 ft. rope and there is a bail of hay 25 ft. away from him. Yet the horse is able to eat from the bail of hay. How is this possible

Well, one solution could be that the horse is at the far end of what ever it is tied to therefore the bail of hay is only 15 feet from the middle. But there are several solutions to the question.

The bail is connected to a pulley system using the same rope as is tied to him, when he walks forward, the bail lowers, 10 ft for 10ft.

I just made up an answer. Sorry if it's crap.

Interesting how some guess the rop is not tied to anything. I can't say that's wrong, but it seems to me an illogical presupposition. Well, congrats to whomever wins.

the bail of hay is 15 ft or less away from the stake, but the horse is on the other side of the stake perhapes 10-15 ft away from the stake.

His rope allows him to go anywhere within a circle 30 feet across.

That hay may be on one side of the circle while at the same time horsie is near the opposite side.

He's got 5 feet to spare in this case.

The stake is only 10 or less feet away so the horse can move over to the hay.

OR

The rope isn't attached to anything.

the horse is not tied to anything and that is why he is able to eat from the bail of hay. good one it took me like 45 secs to come up with the answear.
