A guy ran a red light and struck my car causing $3500 in damages. I got all the required info from him so how do I file a claim with his insurance?

I called my insurance but they said they will not file a claim for me with the other insurance. I have full coverage but with $1,000 deductible so I want his insurance to fix the damages.

You should be able to look the other driver's insurance company up on the web, call them and give them the collision info and the policy number and driver's name.

Don't let them jerk you around -- they will probably try to drag things out in the hopes that you will accept less than what is owed you. Stick to your guns, they are LIABLE and RESPONSIBLE for fixing your car to YOUR satisfaction and covering any and all medical bills and other bills (rental car, etc.) that you have had to pay as a result.

Call your insurance company, give them the other driver's insurance info, and they will take care of it. You won't need to go to small claims court to recover your deductible, because the deductible only applies if you are at fault or the other driver had no insurance. Big question is did you get a police report? The insurance companies both will want that.

?? You need to call your agent, and if the AGENT tells you they won't call the other insurance company for you, you need a new agent. You can ALWAYS file through your company, pay your deductible, and let them subrogate.

But if you have all his info . . . just look up the insurance company on the internet, look up claims reporting number, call them, and give them the info!

And fire your agent.

You just file it with your own company, they pay what your policy will cover, and then they go after the other insurance company for repayment.

You could go to small claims court to recover the amount of your deductible.

So simple, yet so commonly asked. Yes, you just call his insurance company and tell them you want to file with them for your damages. They will investigate the claim and if the investigation indicates their insured is responsible, they will pay for your damages

His insurance company didn't hit you, he did. Send him a bill for $3500. If he doesn't pay, take him to small claims court. Let HIM contact his insurance if he wants to be paid back.

Seriously WHAT company pays your deductable? I'd like that deal.

Don't know what your state laws are but you might have to go to small claims court and file lawsuit against other involved party. Have to suppena him or her to court. Nobody will give you your $1000 deductable, probably have to be reambursed.

Your company will not 'handle' this for you unless you file a claim through them.
Again, do what Chris said.
