Hardly. I refuse to let fear rule my life.

That's the only way that politicians are exerting control over the masses now - through fear. But the statistics don't bear out their arguments...as a Scientist and free thinker, I see through the smokescreen.

I am about the same as most people, I expect. I think the important thing is how close to the surface it is for a person - right on top, determining their response to everything from the first moment? That kind of fear may be the easiest to name, and therefore maybe deal with constructively. Or is it kept deeper, maybe even deep enough inside that it doesn't cause much problems in everyday life (I am thinking of tough, brassy apparently confident types), except in subtle ways that are harder to address? In the long run, these buried fears may cause more damage to one's potentials.

Fear played an important part in my life. I started out being completely afraid of things most are not. I had social anxiety. But i got over it when i realized it was paralyzing me. Now I'm in the marine corps in special operations, an can honestly say fear has no say in my life. Its not that I'm not afraid, but that when something comes my way I'm afraid of, i actually want to do it. Just to knock out any fear i had.

Jumping 30 thousand feet out of an air plane at night, scuba diving under water at night in enemy territory, stalking targets, and conducting unconventional war fare on those son of a bitches. When you go threw that stuff you kind feel like there is nothing to fear.

Fear is a warning sign, some choose to ignore it and place their life in danger. There are people who use fear a s a means to control others, in these situations to give into fear you delay the inevitable. I guess its something each person needs to make a decision on at the time it happens.

5 years ago my 5 year old son died suddenly. My daughter was 2 and a half at the time. I fear l will lose her all the the time, but I try to control it as much as possible. Losing a child suddenly, without warning, is like having the rug pulled out from under you. You can never be sure what tomorrow holds...I live for the moment and try not to be afraid.

Fear sometimes rules all of our lives. Its being able to recognize and and handle it, and getting through it that makes us a better person. Fear also sharpens our intuition, it enables us to understand and know how to read certain situations, thus, from experience handle them in a manner that will help us instead of causing us pain and yes, maybe even death. Healthy fear keeps our fingers out of the fire, unhealthily causes us to run into the fire.

Like everything in life, its a balance, its learning, its understanding and moving on.

I agree with the muffin man. More so now than ever before the government is running people around like sheep. Especially now with up coming elections and the obvious struggle for political party control not to mention the push for continued presence in Iraq. I say this: "If bullshit was worth money the government wouldn't be trillions of dollars in debt"
