Spirit beings consist of meta-phasical energy (similar to the invisible light that causes gravity); thus they can enter into objects that consist of static energy and cause it to move and change form.
Below is the prophecy of a man possessed by a demon (a fallen/inverted angel). The demon causes fire to fall from heaven (lightning), and a statue to speak (basically, the demon will enter into the statue and cause its lips to move while speaking through its mouth).
Revelation 13.11-18
"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six."

You are talkin about when Moses was in front of Pharoah and Moses staff turned into the snake, and then Pharaoh's magicians and wizards turned there staffs into snakes but then Moses's snake ate the magicians snakes. Devil has some power but God Jeus and christians have more, This is the same thing as common day psycics and witches and stuff, it is all satans power, but again Christians have more power then that. Before Jesus ascended into Heaven after he was arose from the dead, he said that we would actually do greater works then he himself did, not becuase of us but because of God in us, God gets all the glory, So yea, satan has some power here on earth.

The Egyptian priests did that. As well as copied the first, I think,

Ever wonder how the Children of Israel could have witnessed
all that stuff? And fell out after only forty days of Moses being on
the mountain? It's because they had seen spiritual power before.
They thought Moses was a master magician.
To put it in laymens terms. Everything is made of atoms. And they are made of little particles that move around. They're ALIVE
and chit! There is also a lot of SPACE in between those
particles. Spirit, (thought and sound), can manipulate these
particles, and transform them into other shapes.

Speaking of snakes, was it G-d or the devil that gave the snake the ability to speak to Eve in the Garden of Eden, enticing her to bite the apple? Doesn't exactly sound like a G-d thing to do.
G-d did turn Moses' staff into a snake. If anyone else knows how to do that, he must be the devil or one of his guys. The power? According to the Bible, Lucifer is a fallen angel...THE fallen angel or archangel. They had powers in City of Angels...remember Nicholas Cage?

Satan was the most powerful angel ever created. He seeks to duplicate God in every way. Satan does have power to many things but only under Gods authority. See the book of Job in the old testament. I have not read where Satan has made staff into a snake but he could if he has Gods okay.

Some of the Egyptians were sorcerers. Powers of visions. The God of Moses is more powerful. Moses serpent ate the sorcerer serpents.
All the judgments that God did was not just on the Egyptians, it was also against the Egyptian gods. The Lord God proved He was toupher than the Egyptian gods.

First off Sandy, why would a loving, caring, omnipotent being create something so awful as "the devil" and then give him power? That was really a silly answerer. And I agree, that it's easy to make something up when the whole thing is just a story.

But in the example you mentioned, Moses' staff ate the others.
