She went to the vet Tuesday because she is sneezing, with a runny nose, her eyes are watering and she isn't eating normally. The vet had said she has an infenction in each nostril and prescribed Clavamox. He said we should see results by Friday or we are to contact them to bring her back in. We have seen minimal results but don't want to seem as if we are overreacting by bringing her back. Not to mention she flips out and its getting a little pricey. Anyone have any advice? Help! We want our fun kitty back!

I would definitely have her rechecked at the vet, just to be safe. Is she congested? You may want to ask your vet about a nebulizing treatment. It will help with the congestion and hopefully make her able to smell her food better and want to start eating again. You can also put her in the bathroom with you when you run a hot shower. That helps with the stuffiness as well. And don't miss any antibiotic doses or stop altogether without consulting your vet.

Keep her on the clavamox. If her nose is stuffed, try using "baby noses" it's in the grocery store with the baby medicine. Cats won't eat if they can't smell and they get dehydrated fast which makes them sicker. Make sure she's eating and drinking enough and she'll get over it. Keep her in the house and away from other cats, upper respiratory infections (rhinotraciitis) are contagious. Like sending your kids to school and they come home with a cold, cats get "colds" too, their bodies just handle them differently.
If she doesn't improve after all the clavamox, take her back to the vet.
Don't worry, she'll be okay!

If she is not doing well on the Clavamox you can ask your vet if they can give a long-acting antibiotic injection. If your cat is already having a hard time breathing, it may be having a hard time swallowing all of the medicine. Anyway I hope that helps. I hope your kitty gets better.

I am concerned she is not eating. Get her some jarred meat for human babies. Chicken and turkey are best. It must contain NO onion or garlic powder. She probably can't smell too well and cats need to smell their food as they eat. I does take several days for an antibiotic is do its job. So she can eat the baby food meat for the next two days.

Feed her from your finger. The meat is gentle for her digestive system and will keep her satisfied till the infection gets cleared up. It is not a long-term diet. Just a short-term diet so she gets some nutrition which she must have if she is to overcome the infection.

Keep your cat on the antibiotics if not better by Monday call your vet. It can take 5-7 days to see results with an antibiotic

Call your vet. Give him a status report. If he suggests a re-check find out what the re-check plan is before you pack your sweet kitty up. (They do hate that!) But I sure would call and give him an update.
I thought Clavamox was mostly for skin infections and abcesses.

If you haven't seen results then it is very important that you take her back for a recheck. Yes, treatment can get a bit pricey but letting things go can become even pricier even costing your pet her life.
