here is how. you tell him that effective today there will be no more bottle and believe me for a while he will be pissed off at you but it is for his own good.

i have two nepews and one niece who went through the same stage that you are mentioning at that their mom had to hide the bottle so that the couldn't find it at all. once they realized that their mom was correct, then each one stopped drinking from the bottle and began to drink from a cup.

I have a 4 yo and a 1 yo. The older one gave us some trouble at first. He didn't wanted to cooperate and he made us suffer for about 3 months. At first we completely took him off the bottle slowly, giving him bottles and sippys in an alternate form, then we gave him more often the sippy until he forgot the bottle existed. We also told him bottles were for little babies and that he was to old to use one, and made remarks of other kids his age that didn't used the bottle.
Hope this can help u, if not e-mail me.

Well, When I was three years old, I had the same problem (I am now 24 and still remember).
As many other people have said, the method that worked for me was for me to throw it out. I was at a sports game with my parents and it was suggested to me that I should throw my bottle over the top of the stadium. I did.
The next morning I asked my parents where my bottle was and they reminded me that I got rid of it. I spent the next hour or so looking around the house for another one, but when one could not be found, I gave up and never went back.
I think this is the easiest, and less traumatic way to ween your child from the bottle.

I know as a parent you don't want to hear your child cry and fuss, but you can't give into everything they want. Some of the other people's ideas for how to get rid of the bottles are good. Then once they're gone, they're gone. Then he will have to deal with the alternative. It may be hard at first, but he will be fine very soon. Remember that it is for his own good. Sucking a bottle is bad for teeth. Also remember that you are the parent and you are in control. Your son is the child and is NOT in control.

you simply have to take it away point blank i know you are going to say he starts hollering and screaming ... so whattttt he knows that all he has to do and you will give him a bottle i went thru the same thing with my child it was actually easier for me to take him off the bottle than it was is pacifier ...... he didn't care so much about the bottle as long as he had that pacifier ......but he was 3 yrs old as well and at 3 still sucking a bottle or pacifier is a no no i just wasn't having it no more so one night i just got fed up took both away and he hollered all night long i didn't get any sleep but eventually around 7am that morning he finally dozed off and when he woke up later that morning around 11 his bottle and pacifier were both sitting on the kitchen table and he walked right passed both of them as if they weren't there and asked me for some juice and i gave him a cup and he drank it no pblm and he never touched bottle or pacifier again..if kids think and see they can play you and all they have to do is cry and throw a fit they will ...stick to your guns tell him no give him the cup and if he wont take it than no juice i bet u he will get thirsty enough and drink out the cup trust me

Along with the sippie cup try little rewards. Stickers and small .99 cent toys from walmart or the dollar store work well. Oh and make the sippie cup have cartoon characters he likes.....mines 3 too and he loves the Power Rangers. Don't worry he'll get there he just has to get comfortable with something new.

Get them all out of the house . Tell him they are gone. He will drink from the sippy. 3 is to old to take a bottle.

OMG! My son is 3 & has been off the bottle since he turned 1. You just have to stop giving in to his requests. I can only assume that he's still in diapers also. You should start with animated sippies.

I once watched an epesode of Super nanny...she took the bottles and with the child and put them on a tree and told him at night the "Bottle Fairy" was coming to take them all to other children and then left him something "special" in the bag that he got the next morning...We tried this with my neice and were very successful with it....

My three kids each got to make a choice of their own. My oldest son threw his bottle out the door for the dog. When he wanted it back it was gone. the dog stole it. bad dog. The twins were riding in a car and we said to throw it out the window on a familiar road to the birds and they did. We drove off. (they don't know that my husband picked them up each time later.)
