well, it would be hard to concider if i have to do any drilling, so i would like to know if it is fairly easy to do, or if it would be a major task

It's a major task. Sent it to a professional. It's not just drilling putting it in. It involves the whole guitar setup, the action, the truss rod and plus, you don't want any mistake that could seriously affect the playability of a Gidson Le Paul, especially if the Bigsby trem just goes off a when installing.

I agree with the three previous posters--don't risk ruining the Les Paul because if you don't have the expertise you're inviting heart-shaking problems. Take it to a luthier or to a reputable music store.

You'll be happy with that decision. Stick to changing the strings and keeping the instrument clean and humidified correctly.

wait a sec had to wipe the drool off my keyboard;) You might want to consult a proffesional. If my sister needed a kidney transplant I would be willing to give her a kidney but I wouldn't try to perform the operation. Hope maybe you get some more informative replies.

This is absolutely something you should not take on yourself unless you are a qualified luthier. There are just so many ways a great guitar could be ruined.
