Hurricane season starts June through November. You never know how many will develop or when, but I lived in the Caribbean for 23 years and I can tell you that every year is totally different, we may get 4 or any at all. Hope this site can give you more info.

As others have mentioned, the hurricane season generally starts in June so you should be safe in April and May.

The NOAA has a table showing storms and hurricanes from 1944-2000 by month here - http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/Landsea/deadly/Table8.htm

There's also another document here - http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/G13.html - that shows strike probabilities per month on a map.

And finally, since most of the NOAA documents are based on data up to 2000, I reviewed the NHC hurricane archive to get the following figures:

2001
June: 1 Tropical Storm (Allison, June 5-17)

2002
July: 1 Tropical Storm (Arthur, July 14-16)

2003
April: 1 Tropical Storm (Ana, April 20-24)
June/July: 1 Tropical Storm (Bill, June 29 - July 2) and 2 Hurricanes (Claudette, July 8-17 and Danny, July 16-21)

2004
July: 1 Tropical Depression (Alex, July 31 - August 6 - Alex became a Tropical Storm on August 1 and went on to become a Hurricane on August 3)

2005 (busiest hurricane season on record)
June: 2 Tropical Storms (Arlene, June 8-13 and Bret, June 28-30)
July: 2 Tropical Storms (Franklin, July 21-29 and Gert, July 23-25) and 3 Hurricanes (Cindy, July 3-7, Dennis July 4-13 and Emily, July 11-21)

2006
June: 1 Tropical Storm (Alberto, June 10-14)
July: 1 Tropical Storm (Beryl, July 18-21) and one Tropical Depression that formed on the night of July 31 and became Tropical Storm Chris on August 1

So in summary, from 2001-2006, storm activity from April to July has been:

April: 1 Tropical Storm
June: 5 Tropical Storms
July: 5 Tropical Storms, 5 Hurricanes and 2 Tropical Depressions

No storm activity has been recorded between January and March, or in May, during that period.
